Chopper tips - - - - -
I'm going to give you an overview of chopper tips. unfortunately I can't capture on xbox, and I can't fly on PC so I can't show you these tips, but hopefully you get the idea.

Setup

You have a choice of vehicle armour or smoke. Which one you take depends on whether your gunner takes armour. if he does then take smoke to negate tracers. If they don't then take armour, as this will allow you to take a rocket and survive

Blackhawk

This is quite a basic chopper to fly. your main role is to provide a mobile spawn point as well as a gun platform. The gun platform role is the easiest, as it basicly consists of you flying a slow circle over the battlefield. However, it is important to realise that you need to vary your speed and altitude in order to prevent yourself being tracered or hit by rockets

To provide a mobile spawn platform, you have a couple of options:

  • You can continue your circular flight path and just let them hop out. This is the worst option, as it is very obvious to the enemy
  • You can fly low so that they time on a parachute is minimised
  • Or my favourite - fake a crash. Choose a nice building, and fly at medium speed towards it, as if you have lost control. You must be in comms with your passenger, as you will be giving them a countdown. When you touch down, fly to the left and right as if your out of control before flying away. This distracts the enemy from the fact that you have left a squad behind their lines

Attack Choppers

As the name suggests, your role is to seek and destroy the enemy. The best way to do this is to co-ordinate with people on the ground who can spot targets, point them out and they can request you to clear a path for them.

The main thing you need to remember is that your gunner is much more effective than you are, so ensure that they have a clear shot. It's also worth talking to them to point out targets. However, this shouldn't stop you saturating the target area with rockets!

The flight paths for the chopper is a bit trickier, and are very situation specific:

  • A confined battlefield - This will most likely be the most common flight path you will use, as it is used in support of an objective capture. What you do is fly about 50m out from the target area in a large circle facing inwards towards the enemy. This allows you to engage the enemy all the time. However it is reasonably difficult to master, and not something I can teach you how to do through text. However if you have onslaught mode and wish to learn, drop me a message and I'll walk you through it
  • Engaging AA - The AA will obviously have the advantage in a straight up fight. However if you can keep low and pop up to attack before changing places you can take down the AA quite easily. This works very well for VADs
  • Attacking a tank - You want to hit the tank from the back, as well as avoiding the tanks MG and Main Weapon. Because of this you will want to set up a straight run behind the tank, but sway from side to side as you approach. As soon as you have fired your missiles, break to the side and go around. Try to randomise the direction you break
  • Bombing runs - If the battlefield is made up of a main road, then simply follow the flight path of attacking a tank

Hind

The hind (in my opinion) is a terrible chopper. It is very hard to handle as a attack chopper, and lacks the side guns to utilise it as a blackhawk. However through experimentation I have found that using it as you use the blackhawk is the best option, especially on Isla Innocents. You are able to fly around the hill, as well as flying squads behind enemy lines

This has been a very brief guide, but I hope it has helped. If you have any questions or wish to learn how to fly, then do not hesitate to contact me on xbox or on here
