The stats seem to suggest javlin is quite a weak choice at the moment. Maybe it improves with a top attack, but it seems very rare that targets are actually lasered.
Not only that, DICE freely admits the Javelin tracking is bugged. If you watch closely, the missile tracks to a point underneath the tank model. It's plainly evident if you fire on a tank when you both are on level ground. It goes right between the treads. Obviously this is much worse if you fire from below the tank. Laser locked top attack Javelins have similar targeting/missing problems - hard to see vs a tank, but the laser targeting flaws are easy to see when a Heli is laser designated. The Javelin just continually loops around it. Compare that to the deadly effectiveness nearly guaranteed kill of the guided shell on lasered helis and you will see the problem.
Considering that guided shells work the same way as Javelins (locking and laser top attack) it's painfully evident how broken the Javelin targeting is.
Less than 1/2 the ammo, long lock time while you stand in LoS to a tank, loud beeping, and improper tracking in both firing modes = No Javelins for me.
If you must use the Javelin, (without laser) lock then flip your sight upwards just before firing. This creates a parabolic arc as it goes up then down to some point directly under the tank. This gives it a much better chance of hitting.
