Xbox 360 External Hard Drive

Ok just need a straight up answer really..

I recently upgraded to a new xbox 360 but it only has 4gb of memory. I was just wondering if I could get myself say a 250gb-500gb external hard drive and plug that in via usb and use that. Surely it would work right if formatted first. It's just so much cheaper to get myself a external hard drive rather than upgrading the xbox?

And it would work for installing games from disc so that they run faster etc etc?

Proberly 'Yes' but I just wanted to make sure from you guys.. Thanks in advance.

I think you're capped at using 32 gb of space on external devices if you use it for games data and such. I'm pretty sure that was in the last update. If I am correct (wait for someone to confirm) then just go get a couple of 32 gb flash drives and use those.

You're must be bought the X360 S Arcade, only those console come with 4GB memory, but I wonder why shouldnt you buy the 250GB one? because the price is just between $40-$70 different and yet 246GB different! And Yes 32GB is max for external storage for X360 currently.

I'm now in need of squadmate in BFBC2, because I'm love team play games, and It really hard to find a team where they like to work as a team so anyone want to add me up are welcome,
