Hey all! First post. Love the mature nature of the board and the strategic mindset of many of the posts. Watched a BC2 video made by Red Dragon and he mentioned the site so I thought I'd come and check it out.

I'm reading the description of the CG and it says one of it's intended uses is against non-armored vehicles. The RPG on the other hand mentions it should be used against armored vehicles. I'm guessing if I'm trying to take out a tank, the RPG would be the preferred anti-tank weapon of choice? If this is the case, I don't understand why I see so many engineers running around, shooting tanks with the CG. Let alone the love affair some people seem to have with it. Am I missing something here?

well the name would suggest that the anti tank rockets would be best but im not sure that there is much difference between the at and the cg although someone who runs with these weapons a little more could probably correct me on that

I'm a fan of the AT4 but I think it really comes down to what you feel more comfortable using.

RPG: Less damage to infantry, more to vehicles. More drop from projectile. (2-3 for a tank I think?)

Carl G: More damage to infantry, less to vehicles. Less drop from projectile (3-4 for a tank?)

AT4: Besically NO damage to infantry (unless it is a direct impact), and more to vehicles. User Controlled (I think 2-3)

My favorite is the RPG for the drop of the missile and damage to vehicles plus the ability to kill infantry, but it is mostly preference as to which one you will like most overall.

I prefer RPG to take down tanks. They do more damage on tanks then the Carl G. The rockets don't fly "as" fast as the Carl G, so for faster vehicles you can use the Carl G.

Another bonus of the RPG is tracer compatibility. IF you get a good tracer mount on either the sides or back its a solid hit. But if you get the top of the tank on the turret area you can pull out Javelin type launches. Just get the lock on, aim straight up and let it fly. I think it does more damage then even the back and sides when done like that.

The AT4 with the explosive upgrade is very powerful, but it leaves you momentarily vulnerable to getting shot since you have to guide the rocket. With the RPG and Carl Gustav you can fire and get back to cover very quickly.

*Side note about the Carl G, it works wonders on Helicopters. So if you expect to run into heavy heli use, then bust the Carl G out. Their is a vid in Bad Company 2 section bout taking heli's down. VERY useful.

I'd say the AT4 is your best shot seeing as it does the highest amount of damage to enemy vehicles.

I like the AT 4 against those tanks that hang back and blast the crap out of the Mcoms. Often times they'll back up into cover to get repaired and I'll use the controller to make the rocket turn the corner right into them. It's difficult but VERY satisfying when you get one. Of course, my preferred method for armored vehicle destruction is the ever so wonderful AT mines.

Well, depends on what you use, if you're pairing it with a tracer-RPG for the straight up damage
If you aren't using tracers go with the AT4 for tanks
Helicopters, the carl g is the best.

Great info. I never realized the CG was so useful against infantry. I see now how each of these weapons have their purpose.

Thanks!

When you are talking infantry damage using rockets, it's all about the radius of the 100+ damage inner burst. That burst is bigger with the explosives perk.

RPG = 1 meter
Carl G= 1.8 meters
AT4 = 0.6 meters

Many people do use the CG vs tanks just because it's the "All situations" rocket. I don't think they choose it specifically for tanks.

AT4 is incredible for long distance no-drop counter sniping if you aren't the target.

As far as the CG vs Helis... yes it has higher speed. But a RPG locked on (speed wouldn't matter here) doing more damage and possibly causing the Heli to explode instantly due to the over-damage (more likely if it is already shot up) is more likely to cause the death of the passengers, correct?

I enjoy using the RPG with a tracer drat personally, as I can tracer the target then leg it into cover and fire from safety :) Javelin style kills FTW ;)

I've always used the CG for any type of killin': Infantry, tank, and otherwise. When I first unlocked the AT-4 I used it, but I've found in hardcore it's difficult to stay in the open and guide the dang' thing. Much easier to shoot the CG and get out of dodge.
