Hello, xStrongBad36x here!

Since we all go on our computers very often, whether it is to look at the forums, download *ahem* videos, or check out some game trailers, and as you know, if you have a slow computer, these easy tasks soon become hard, and take way longer than you feel like they should. Now instead of paying 100 dollars for Best Buy to fix it for you, and instead of downloading those programs that you see on the commercials (which make matters worse) you can come over to StrongBad, tell him your problems and have him fix them for you...BUTTTTTT I hate talking to some of you (jk <3) so I decided to make this guide to help you guys out! P.S. All of this is free!

1. Important Programs

CCleaner
Also known as Crap Cleaner, this easy to use program cleans your computer, and safely cleans your registry. It is really self explanatory, and you can decide what you want cleaned, and what you want to stay dirty. This program never caused any problems, or deleted anything that I really needed, or messed up my registry. Anyone can use this program.

Defraggler
Instead of using the otherwise TERRIBLE default defragger, you can use Defraggler, made by the great people who also made CCleaner. This program carries out the same process as the default defragger, but it does it faster, more efficient, and more effectively. This will make your computer 10000x faster for sure. Run this program before you go to bed, when you get up restart you computer, run it once more. Once it's done, restart your computer once more, and you should be good to go!

2. Recommended Threat Scanners

AVG FREE 9.0
This is probably the best free scanner. It has a resident shield that scans whatever you are working with/opening without using up much memory. It also finds just about every virus you can think of. Update and scan this puppy once a week, and I assure you no viruses will mess with you.

Spybot - Search & Destory
Often confused with the rather difficult Modern Warfare 2 mode, this program will Search and Destory (no pun intended) any spyware on your computer. Same as AVG, you'll want to update this and scan this about once a week. One of the greatest free scanners on Earth.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Another one of the greatest free scanners on Earth, this will wipe the floor clean with any dirty Malware scum. Just like the other scanners, make it maintenence to update this and scan your computer with this once a week.

Everything I said about all programs was mostly opinion. ALSO! If you have a virus already on your computer, and it's messing with you ALOT, look up on Google how to go into Safe Mode on your OS (I would tell, but it really depends on your OS), go into Safe Mode, update all the scanners I told you about, and scan each one. Safe Mode only starts up Windows programs, so it's nearly impossible for any virus to hide itself. Please note that even with the greatest protection on Earth, you can still get viruses, malware, spyware, and any other threats, I never said you couldn't.

Overclocking also decreases the life of whatever it is that you are overclocking. It's best to overclock a part when its older.

That is usually true SB, however, some parts are now made to be overclocked. In general these parts are well capable of being oc'ed without any ill effects on life. With that said many people try to push it too far and cause the problem themselves. When done properly without being to extreme with it the majority would see no difference in the life of their PC. Those that don't take proper steps and/or push the envelope too far(even with parts made for it) will have catastrophic results in short order. But as Abacap said don't do this unless you know what you are doing!!!
