Basic and Advanced Jet Tricks and Tips

Alright, I've been seeing many problems with people flying jets and not being able to earn any points or that if they do then it will take them hours just to unlock flares, well here is my Ultimate Guide to flying and with over 2100 kills and 20 service stars to back up that I know what I'm talking about.

First, let's talk about the different fighter jets that you can use.

RUSH

1. A-10 Thunderbolt- A very powerful anti-ground vehicle capable of destroying any vehicle in its path. Designed for the USAF to provide CAS (counter air strike) of ground forces by attacking ground targets with limited AA (anti-air) capabilities.

2. SU-25TM Frogfoot- A match to the A-10 Thunderbolt with the same capabilities. A Soviet CAS plane nicknamed "Grach". NATO reporting name "Frogfoot".

These two planes match each other with their anti-ground capabilities but as much as I hate to say it, the SU-25 is slightly more maneuverable than the A-10 when it comes to dogfighting but with the right pilot, the A-10 is just as capable and deadly as the Grach.

Conquest
1.F/A-18E Super Hornet- The most agile fighter jet that is available, it is able to control the skies with any ace pilot. A multirole jet fighter aircraft introduced in 1983 and used today by the USMC. The C and D variants include upgraded avionics and weapons capability.

2. SU-35BM Flanker-E- Second to the Super Hornet, a multirole fighter that is capable of controlling the skies almost as well as the Hornet. A long range multi-role fighter, modernized and deployed starting in 2011. The last of the “Flanker” series by Sukhoi.

3. F-35 Lightning II- A very special type of fighter. With its VTOL abilities (Vertical Takeoff or Landing) it is an excellent ground attack plane, but with its large turn radius and less agile maneuvering abilitly, it is horrible in a dogfight. Of course i am still able to eliminate enemy bogies, but with much more skill needed and to even master the ground attack it would take the average pilot days. Product of the JSF program, the F-35 Lightning is a stealth, multirole fighter with STOVL (Short TakeOff Vertical Landing) capabilities.

	Jets [F35] Tips (Xbox360)

NEW LIVE STREAM: http://www.twitch.tv/twthereddragon
SUBSCRIBE:
http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=twthereddragon

TWITTER:
http://twitter.com/#!/twthereddragon

Gaming News: http://www.BattleStrats.com

SUBSCRIBE to my BATTLEFIELD 3 SHOW! http://www.youtube.com/show?p=Wi4qDtxiFtA

Now that we have figured out what fighter jet you should have, lets take a quick look at the loadouts and what my loadout is that has led me to the thousands of kills I earned.

IR Flares- Infared flare launchers that when launched will distract incoming missiles and cause them to miss their locked target.

Heat Seekers- Heat seeking missiles launched by the pilot which lock onto and track enemy aircraft

Stealth- Engine tuning and fuselage coating materials disguise your vehicle's infared signature, increasing enemy locking and tracking difficulties and decreasing the time you are revealed to the enemy form being spotted

Belt Speed- An enhanced mechanism decreases the minimum time between firing bursts with your main weapon.

Proximity Scan- External sensors detect and reveal enemy units on your minimap

Rocket Pods- A set of unguided FFAR rocket pods mounted under the wing

Air Radar- The range of your minimap increases greatly and reveals all friendly and enemy aircraft and ground vehicles

Extinguisher- A controlled air pressure release in the engine compartment will extinguish engine fires when activated, helping a disabled aircraft return to normal operation and recover from damage.

Below Radar- When flying at low altitudes your heat signature is decreased, hiding you from enemy radar ad preventing enemy air-to-air missile systems from locking on to you.

Maintenance- Preventative maintenance procedures improve your vehicle's recovery from damage

Guided Missile- Laser guided missiles launched from the pilot which lock on to and track enemy ground vehicles and can acquire laser designated vehicles even if they are out of line-of-sight

Beam Scanning- A computer upgrade for advanced weapons systems that help lock onto enemy targets faster when using heat seeking or laser guided missiles

ECM Jammer- electronic counter measures including chaff launchers and deceptive transmitters prevent your aircraft from being locked on to by enemy weapon systems for a short time when activated

Finally, we can get down to the actual ways that I am able to dominate the skies.

First off, my Loadout.

1. Air Radar- it is a must in that you can see any enemy on the ground that is in a vehicle and if an enemy jet is on your six. A must for dog fighting and air dominance.
2. IR Flares- these allow me to stay in the air for the entire game even if several stinger missiles are locking on to me, especially with the lowered disable limit. And allowing me to continue on to my target, no matter who or what is shooting at me
3.Guided missiles- With these under my wing, I can take out any enemy vehicle and severely limit their capabilities on defending any position and is best used during rush when that is the main objective

Secondly, here are some quick tips and hints on dog fighting and following the enemy.

When turning for a dogfight, remember these basic tools.

1. Always shoot when you are on his six, NEVER when you are either on his 12 o'clock or his side

2. If you do not have Air Radar, go up high in the sky, and use the look view (down on the D-pad) and look out of your cockpit to scan the surrounding areas for enemies

3. When you are about to shoot your main cannon, lead the target depending on how far away he is and let it rip if you have a clear target, and do NOT peel away if the other enemy is disable, destroy the enemy and their vehicle. No Mercy, No Surrender.

4. Always check your altitude. This is you main factor when stalling out and could be a large factor in if you become the target or you kill the target. Here are the height limits before you stall for all of the jet maps, including rush and conquest
Operation Firestorm- 800 ft/meters, what ever works for you, its just a unit
 Kharg Island- 1000 ft/meters
 Gulf of Oman- 550 ft/meters
 Caspian Border- 900 ft/meters
 Wake Island- 900 ft/meters

5. Know how to use your flares. They are key to your very survival. NEVER pop your flares until the missile is launched and coming at you. Once you evade the missile, high tail it out of there because it is most likely that they have another one waiting for your return.

6. Having a wingman can do wonders, especially with good communication. Try to squad up with a good pilot and you two will both dominate the sky and with some practice, the ground as well.

7. Know your plane and its capabilities. DO NOT try to fight a SU-35 with a F-35. You will most likely lose, unless I'm in the F-35

8. If an enemy is on your six, then perform a simple, large loop and try to get as close to the ground as possible. If the other pilot is an ace, he will match you move for move and you will most likely be shot down by now, but most aren't, so they will either pull off or crash into the ground.

9. Practice, Practice, Practice. This will let your learn how to fly perfectly and if you can, get a friend on to the other team, and let him pretty much be the dummy target and try to shoot him out of the sky. And if he is really good, he could up the skill needed to kill him little by little until you are better than him, then move on to an ace, if possible.

10. Always use third person view when you are not engaging an enemy or if you are in a dogfight and you did not last see which way he turned. Only go into first person, or cockpit view when you are ready to unload some hot lead

11. Lastly, learn your controls. Switch them up to fit your preference, there is no difference on how they affect your skills, they only fit different people differently, so find the one you like most and choose it.

*Sensitivity does not affect the jet's ability to turn faster or move more agile than the enemy. This is a common misconception and will only cause your gun to move crazier when on the ground.

* When in a turning dogfight, pull on the brakes as you turn, but do not hold them for a long period of time. As you slow down, you will hit the slowest speed that you can go while in the air and continue in the same turning radius as you were before you pulled on the brake, so let it go and hit the throttle for a good second then pull on the brakes again, this will allow you to slowly creep up on his tail. Here is the pattern.
Brake and turn for 2 seconds, then accelerate for 1 second, brake for 2 seconds, accelerate for 1 second, and so on until you have a clear shot on your target.

Here is a quick maneuver tip that I know to get rid of enemies on your tail.

Just do random flips, barrel rolls, bank left or right. Basically any move that you can confuse the enemy with. Try to fake one direction and then pull into the opposite direction.

Well that's all I can tell you right now and I do know a few more secrets, but that is only for Ace pilots only. Classified. But I hope this guide helps all noobs, newbies, and semi pros become the pilot that they always wanted to be. Post any questions and i will try to answer them.

See you on the battlefield and pray you don't move into my crosshairs.

P.S. Gamertag is GrotesqueSphinx, if you wish to add me or just play with me.

Helicopter guide - extensive

Hello! My name is DRodders, and I’m going to bring you a quick guide on how to fight effectively with the helicopters in battlefield 3. I did a similar article for BC2, but judging by the standard of pilots I’m up against, you all need a refresher! Unfortunately this is a text only guide, as I lack the recording equipment for the xbox, and cannot fly as well with a mouse and keyboard (If anyone does have recording equipment and is willing to help put a video together, please get in contact!). I’m going to split this into 3 sections, the attack heli, the scout heli and the transport heli. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, and I will attempt to run you through the correct tactics when facing different types of enemies.
Attack Helicopter
Strengths:

Effective against infantry and tanks

The gunner seat is extremely powerful

Highly armoured

When working with a competent gunner you can have 2 sets of flares and be effectively invulnerable to enemy missiles

Highly mobile (can turn on a point!)

Weakness

Enemy jets and choppers

Mobile AA

This is the helicopter that most of you will be familiar with, and is the most commonly misused. It is a hunter killer aircraft, and one that works best with the element of surprise. If an enemy soldier can’t see you, he can’t lock onto you

Against Infantry
Infantry can be annoying as they can have stinger launchers equipped. These are very frustrating, as it is difficult to ID where the person is locking onto you from. The best way to counter this is to ignore the threat and rely on your flares to counter the missiles. This works if you are in communication with your gunner, and you both have flares. However, if you are flying with a random, or if your friend does not have flares, the best thing to do is go low and try to either break line of sight (LOS) or fly out of range. Either way, the most effective method is to go low, as by going low you have the best chance of breaking LOS, and it is also the quickest way to build up speed, allowing you to escape from the stingers range quickly.

When attacking infantry, going into a circle ‘holding’ pattern is effective. This is when you fly in a circle with your nose pointed at the enemy at all times. This allows for both you and your gunner to get the best shots off at the enemy.

Alternatively you can work in conjunction with your allies on the ground. You fly low, preferably below tree level in areas you consider to be friendly. When you see either an enemy being spotted, or a flag being captured you keep low and fly into position, rising above the treeline at the last moment before opening up on the enemy. This is extremely effective, as it gives the enemy the minimum possible warning, which means that you are likely to catch them out of cover. A quick burst from the gunner and a couple of rockets should finish them off fairly rapidly!

The last main option is to fly high and constantly scan the battlefield. From this position you are able to see most enemies, especially if the gunner has zoom optics. Make the most of this position and spot up as many enemy soldiers and vehicles as possible. Once you have ID’ed a target you want to go after, rapidly drop your height whilst lining up for a straight run at the target. Open up with your weapons before climbing back to your original height as quickly as possible. The aim is if you have to be visible at all times, you try to create as small a target as possible by being as high as you can be. This makes it harder for the enemy to spot and lock onto you!

Against Tanks
Tanks are fairly simple to destroy, especially when you have TV missiles. Simply line up from the back, making sure your giving yourself a fairly long approach. Your aim is to come from high to low, keeping your reticle on the tank. In theory the combination of your rockets and the gunners shots should be able to take out the tank in one pass, but only if you give yourself a long enough run up. Make sure you stay at a medium height, otherwise it is easier for the tank to get lucky and take you down with one shot!

Against Choppers
Assuming you have anti-air missiles (and I want to hear a good reason if you don’t!) enemy choppers are easy to take down, so long as you have the height advantage. If your lower than the enemy chopper, you have to angle your chopper upwards in order to keep the enemy in your sights. This makes your helicopter go backwards and down, which inevitably leads to the ground and a fiery death!

Assuming that you have got your height advantage, the pilot should start locking on, whilst the gunner engages normally. The idea here is to distract the pilot with the missile threat, hopefully causing him to forget the threat the gunner is posing to him. This will make for an easy kill! Dragon has created an excellent video regarding the use of air to air missiles, and can be found here:

Against Jets
Run. There is very little defence against jets if they decide to use their cannons on you. Missiles can be countered by flares, but cannons will rip you to shreds very quickly. If you have air to air missiles then you can attempt to take them out, but often they just fly out of range too quickly. The best option is to stay low, and wait for your jets to take them out. Of course, if your jets are distracting them already, then there is no need to hide, as you’re not in danger! But keep an eye on them (air radar is very good at this, as well as highlighting enemy choppers and tanks)

Scout Helicopters
Strengths:

Very responsive

Very powerful against infantry

Small

Speedy

Disadvantages:

Only 1 set of flares

Weakly armoured

Weak against vehicles

Despite the disadvantages listed above, the scout chopper has to be my favourite to fly. The sheer responsiveness of it combined with the power of the miniguns makes for an unstoppable team!

Against Infantry
This depends very much on whether they’ve brought stingers or not. Because you only have one set of flares, the best thing to do after you’ve deployed the first set is to run away until they have respawned. However, whilst the enemy is locking on the first time, you must try to either break LOS or find and kill them. This depends on where you are and how confident you are in where the enemy is firing from. If you’re not sure, get out of there and live to fight again.

If the enemy did not bring stingers, fly at medium height above them, bringing the chopper almost to a hover when firing upon enemies on the ground. This hover, and the time it takes to kill an enemy should be less than a second, after which you need to move on, rising in height to get a better look at the battlefield.

Against Helicopters
This is the same for the attack choppers. Gain height and keep it.

Against Vehicles (especially mobile AA)
As mentioned earlier, the scout helicopter is very weak against vehicles. Its minigun does some damage, but you’re looking at several passes to destroy them. This is more than enough time for the mobile AA to ruin your day. In this case the best tactic is either to ask teammates already on the ground to take it out, or to fly in low and drop some off nearby. The third option is to repeatedly fly in low, and try to blindside it. However, this is risky as if the driver has even some brains they will soon catch onto this tactic. Essentially, ground units are more suited to killing vehicles. You are more suited to taking out infantry and dropping of teammates

Transport Helicopters
Strengths

Acts as a mobile spawnpoint

Weakness

Everything else!

The transport choppers have to be the worst choppers in the game. The clue is in the name, you use these choppers to fly teammates into battle and little else. Although it has 2 miniguns on the side, unless you get a good gunner you are unlikely to take out many enemies, as they seem a lot weaker than in BC2. However, you are still able to harass and supress the enemy with them. A useful tactic is to fly in a squad, getting as close to the objective as possible without being seen (flying at ground level is a great way to achieve this!) You then go to a holding circle just above the treeline from which your side gunner can suppress or kill any enemies in the area. This helps your friends on the ground immensely, as it means that the enemy is concentrating on you rather than them. Don’t expect to get many kills or win any battles if something decides to take you head on. Fly yourself out of any situation where you are unlikely to win, and remember that with the transport helicopter the best defence is not to be seen. Fly as low as you are comfortable with!

I hope that this has been helpful, and any feedback would be appreciated!

DRodders

DRodders and THE RED DRAGON

Battlefield: Battlefield 3 Online Gameplay Attack Chopper | Flying Tips

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbMQeb-LiOg

Battlefield 3 Attack Chopper Tips with Online Multiplayer Gameplay from BF3.
Special Thanks to dRodders for coming on and talking about the Attack Helicopter in Battlefield 3.
Like & Comment for Part 2
SUBSCRIBE:
http://www.youtube.c...=twthereddragon

TWITTER:
http://twitter.com/#.../twthereddragon

BATTLEFIELD 3 SHOW: http://www.youtube.c...w?p=Wi4qDtxiFtA

Part 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nL7RRAU6lzQ

Conquest Strategy- Caspian Border

Its been a while since I wrote a strategy. Between issues at home, schoolwork, fixing my new house, I am a little burned out. But, I'm not KOed yet. So here is Caspian Border as promised.

Survey the Terrain

The map is an extremely open, woodland terrain. A two lane road runs the length from north to south generally. The flags are situated in the middle of the map with open terrain between the flags and the spawn zones. The Alpha Flag sits on a checkpoint in the road and is cluttered with wrecked cars, cargo containers and buildings. The Bravo Flag sits in a dense forest that makes vehicles a liability. The Charlie Flag sits on a hilltop that gives a great vantage point on Alpha and Bravo Flags and can see the road that approached the Delta Flag. Delta sits in a Gas Station complex with garages across the street.

Take Inventory

Both sides starts with several vehicles. Each side spawns with 2 light buggies, 2 MBT's, 1 attack helicopter, 2 jet fighters, 1 AA station in the spawn base and 2 stationary rocket launchers.

Strategize

I call this strategy "Operation Hamburger Hill." The reason is that the priority flag is Charlie, Hilltop. it should be clear why its the main objective:
1) It is the high ground
2) Its position in the middle allows for quick deployment to other flags being taken, and
3) Once held, the defenders have a significant advantage over enemy vehicles trying to take it back.

The priority list is the same for for both sides with the exception of Alpha/Delta, as these are the closest to that sides spawn.

Once deployed, two squads of infantry need to take the fast buggies and move directly to Charlie and Bravo for capture. Charlie is held for the above reasons. Bravo in the forest is 10 times more exposed than Charlie is, but the infantry still has the advantage over any vehicles entering to recapture. Bravo is in a forest that hampers a vehicles best asset; maneuverability. The path is small, the trees provide camouflage and has multiple entry/exit points for infantry with two entry/exit points for vehicles. Bravo is the perfect flag to execute ambushes and bushwhacking tactics. Both of these squads should be kitted out heavily in anti-vehicle equipment.

Meanwhile, the MBT's should press forward and capture Alpha/Delta (depending on whose side your one). Once theclosest flag to your spawn is taken, the tanks main role will change to tank-hunting, followed by supporting the infantry. The jets objective is air supremacy, i.e. engage the other jets and knock them out of the sky. The attack helicopter is Charlie and Bravo's close air support first, tank hunting second. Once these 3 flags are captured, the infantry should hold their position and the vehicles do their role.

The squad holding Charlie should heavily mine the only road that tanks can advance on. Although the enemy might see them, their means to destroy them removes the initiative from their hands into yours. Set up a defense along the crest of the hill so the enemy drives into the center of the kill zone and fire rockets, blow C4, etc till tank is dead. Setting up in a perimeter forces the tank gunner to constantly move the turret between targets. Enemy infantry that attempt to take the hill have to fight an uphill battle and usually fail (hence the name, Hamburger Hill). Keep Charlie at all costs and use the attack heli to drive the enemy off the hill.

Bravo should be defended in roughly the same way, only slightly more difficult against infantry. Vehicles moving into Bravo have only one clear way of doing it and that way should be mined heavily. Once the mines are in place, the squad should use the trees as cover and concealment. Set up a defensive perimeter and use guerrilla tactics to keep the enemy out. A good tactic is to let the tank capture it, then capture it back when it drives away. This can drive tankers nuts. If the Bravo Squad dies, respawn at Charlie and do it again.

Since Alpha/Delta flags are more easily defended with the tanks, defending these flags fall to them. Their maneuverability and firepower will keep the enemy infantry moving in the center where it provides the most cover for them, but they are exposed to your teams better defensive posture.

Remember, the goal is to bleed them to death from ticket loss. Attacking the enemies closest spawn flag weakens your position at the other flags. Charlie is always a pain to assault, Bravo is a chokepoint that changes hands frequently and Alpha/Delta are best defended with tanks due to their terrain. Jets should focus on other jets and tanks in the open while the attack helicopter should use their manuverabilty to assist with the squads in the center.

This is a map where you can walk away with 5000+ points and only 4 kills at the end of the round. Have fun with it.

Great ways to level up

I found out that there are many great ways to level up fast on mw3. First of I'll tell you the easiest ways. One easy way to level up is by buying mountain dew and Doritos. NO KIDDING!!! I bought a mountain dew today and went on the site to sign up and enter the code and got a free 15 minutes of double xp, it may not seem like a lot but it adds up.

Another thing is save your prestige tokens for later in a level to help you get double xp and level up. There is not point in using them early in a level when its easy to level up earlier. Also you after first prestige and for every prestige you get an extra token, so you dont have to keep wasting them on double xp, if you want buy your self an extra class or gun/attachment to have unlocked through all prestige's.

The last thing I can really think of is completing challenges in good game modes. Lately i been playing Mosh pit and Team tactical. With the mixture of game modes and depending on how good/fast you are you could get tons of challenges completed in one game. So using the perk that allows you to have two primary guns is a good deal because you'll most likely be unlocking more challenges than you would with just one primary in a bunch of the same game modes.

I happen to be almost done figuring out the strength of each weapon and there durability or dependability. I'll have that posted some time this week so keep an eye out for plenty more tips and tricks

Conquest Strategy- Operation Metro

Well, I was bound to do it eventually. Like all the Beta players, I am sick of this map on Rush. Conquest mode is a little different; its a lot more frantic. I have put it off far too long so here we go.

Survey The Terrain

The subway section is very long and linear with open sightlines. The station itself has a little more room to manuver but otherwise its still a straight shot. The Russian spawn is outside the station but its still a linear map.

Take Inventory

This an all-infantry map. As such, whatever equipment you unlocked helps a great deal.
*Certain equipment is useless here, so make sure to change them. The Javelin, Stingers and Mortars are ineffective. RPG's, however, are great on this map to deal with campers.

Strategize

First, here are the objectives and the area around them:

Alpha Flag: Cafe

This flag is between the Russian spawn and the subway entrance. It sits between two large buildings whose floors can be accessed. This flag becomes a high traffic area if the Marines hold Bravo, so do not take this flag for granted. Of all the flags, this is one that can be flanked if the enemy gets outside. The station has multiple exit points and the one to the west has a route that allows soldiers to get between the Russian spawn and the flag.

Bravo Flag: Ticket Hall

This flag is in the center of the map. It sits in front of a wall and right behind the northern most escalators. This flag has a large capture radius so be sure to keep that in mind when attacking and defending. The locker room to the west is a popular spot for Bravo Defenders for its multiple entrances and its vantage point on the flag.

Charlie Flag: Platform

This flag is closest to the Marines and sits on a train platform. Like all flags on this map, it has a large capture radius. If Russia holds this flag, they can ambush any Marines coming through the dark tunnels and the train tracks from the north. Whoever holds this flag would be wise to set up at least a defender due its ease of being captured.

The Plan

Once you spawn, start running!! Your primary objective is Bravo and that is it. Keep that in your head: Bravo, Bravo, Bravo! If your playing as Russians, than you have the significant advantage as Bravo is closer to you. But the Marines should not let this deter them, as their approach to Bravo has more options by either the first escalators, the right staircase and the second escalators. Once Bravo is captured by whoever, the front line resembles more like a WW2 Battlefield than a modern one. The area around Bravo is a bottleneck and even someone who has played this map once knows that.

Marines

If the Marines hold Bravo, then they need to worry about just two directions: the north towards the turnstiles and the locker room on the right. The locker room is particularly treacherous as if there are too many defenders there, one well thrown grenade can create a huge opening. Other player soldiers can trap you so you can't move. One support with an LMG and one Assault for revives are plenty. The station area is the main attack zone. The force should divide itself to face two sectors on the right and left front. Set up sectors of fire that overlap over the ticket booth in the center. It wouldn't be wise to push forward; losing this flag is not good.

If the Marines can't get to this flag first, then it is an uphill fight to reclaim it but its not impossible. Unlike your defense set up, the Russian need to cover three approaches: the staircase on your right, the escalators that go right to the flag and the set of escalators that go behind the flag. A direct assault on the flag is dumb, but then again not so dumb. What makes Bravo so hard to reclaim is the sheer amount of defenders that will be in the area looking forward. Once Bravo is controlled, all enemy future spawning will be on that flag and no where else. That works in your favor since Alpha will be unguarded.

The best method plays out like this. The Russians will have every available man on the front. Novice players will attack Bravo directly, die, spawn and do it again. This fixes the enemy in place, leaving a good sneaky player to use the second set of escalators to get behind the line and go right for Charlie unheeded. Once Charlie is captured, either you will hold it for the match (good) or the enemy will send soldiers to the rear to get it back (still good). This removes defenders at Bravo, giving your team an opening to overwhelm the defenders and claim it. Just bear in mind that the enemy can do the same thing to you at Alpha.

Russians

As said before, the Russians have three avenues to defend against. The back set of escalators are tricky to defend. Its best to leave a support or an assault in the ticket booth to shoot any sneaky ones as they try to roll up your line. If the Marines hold Bravo, getting to those escalators to sneak attack Alpha is harder for your team than the Marines. A player who is disciplined enough not to shoot at any available target should be the one to sneak down to the lower level. Once down there, the rest of the team should spawn on that player to get a presence down there instantly.

Tips for Both Teams

A nasty tactic is to play dead. There will so many bodies around that eventually the teams will ignore bodies on the ground. I have used this tactic with great success. To counter this tactic, use IR scopes to pick off them off.

Smoke is wonderful on this map. Smoke the enemy in their positions and you have shut down their snipers, LMG's and Engineers from aiming accurately. It also masks heat signatures.

Assault class will have to make a tactical choice, 'nade launcher or Med packs. Med packs are vital for babysitters and launcher is preferred for the ones who push the line forward. Think of what role is needed and adjust accordingly.

Don't bother aiming down the sights of an LMG in the tunnels. Its takes too much time and you will probably die anyway.

Once again, Bravo is the Priority!!

Advanced Jet Combat

This is going to be my advanced guide on jets in BF3. First i''ll say I am a new guy on this forum, don't be afraid what I have to say is definantly worth listening to. I would not use this forum for begginers, this is for people who know how to fly and want to rule the skys. I have all the jet upgrades unlocked so I will be refering to thier effects. If you have a question about one just ask. Let me start.

~Tip 1- Heat seeking missiles. On day one they were the difference between day and night in jet combat. You could litterally destroy almost any jet that could cross your path. The problem is that it is not day one anymore. Almost every decent pilot now has flares or even chaffs, and are not hesitant on throwing those missiles off track and pulling some fancy manunever to give themselves time to reload thier flares. If you haven't unlocked anything better, than by all means use them. But as you get to the advanced stages of being a pilot they become worse and worse and guided ATG missles are much better. If I were you, practice with your gun, It is the most valuble tool you have, and is not hard to use if you know when.

~Tip 2- Using the gun to its full potential. The gun is the most powerful weapon on a jet, capable in the hands of an experinced pilot of destroying your foes in seconds. Now using it to be able to do that, requires a massive amount of skill and practice. Let me get this out of the way. Once you unlock air radar, never change it. It is what allows the advanced pilot to destroy all in his path. It shows all enemy planes- spotted or not, thier direction of movement, and all ground viehicles and choppers in its range. This allows you to know exactly which way he is going, and allows you to get and stay behind your enemy. Now back to your gun. Truly using your gun takes many hours in a cockpit, but a few steps to help get those bullets on track:

1- Lead the target. Really you should already know to do that.
2- Attack when turning. When they turn, they expose a much greater surface area of thier plane, exposing themselves to your gunfire. Also expose the most vunerable area of plane.
3- Aim for the cockpit! When they turn, you can see thier little heads in the cockpit. Put a 20mm hole in them and end the dogfight.
4- Get a friend. An experinced pilot to fly with you can be a huge asset in a gunfight. Less experinced people will trail someone until thier plane rots out from under them. Get your buddy to let him get behind him, then fly strait. Easy pickings.
5- Swoop like a hawk. When searching for a plane, always stay as high up as possible. As soon as you see one you get the opportuninty to hopefully down him in seconds. All you have to do is fly in a U shaped curve. Never get behind him, just go in, shoot him up (usally first time kills if you are accurate) and if needed then go back up, and repeat the same motion.

~3- Evasion. This has a lot to do with air radar. Once you unlock it then you easily (in most cases) evade the enemy behind you. However a warning. If he has air radar and he gets behind you then just jump. It ends in a stalemate that ends after 30 minutes when one of you finally crashes into the ground. Not worth it. You can easily tell if they have air radar. I would tell you a way to evade them but I haven't found one yet that even remotely works. However if a pilot without air radar gets behind you, and you will be able to see him on radar or see the gunfire/ missle locks this is the best manuver that I know.

1- Fient a turn. (probally spelled that wrong ) Start to turn slightly to the left, make him think you are moving.
2- Immediatly downwards or upwards if you don't have enough room. Make a sharp turn strait down (works best) or up.
3- Make a 180 degree turn right.
4- Pull up (or down) and fly to your left and you will probally see a dazed pilot wondering where you went.
This takes practice to do right, so you better man the pilot seat.

That is all that I have have tested enough/ had time to write today. Every few days I will try to add a few more.
My PSN is darkstar098765 if you want an indepth tutorial on how to do some of these things or just learn to fly. I am usally on on the weekends.
Sorry for any misspellings I am told I am illiterate so don't hate.

Conquest Strategy- Tehran Highway

Some people hate this map. I personally love it for one very good reason: its at night. The modern military, especially nowadays, has embraced humanities natural fear of darkness and uses it as an ally. Looking back in recent history (1970's), the Vietnam War saw the first emergence of night-vision goggles. NVG's came into their own during Desert Storm and since then, the U.S. military owns the night. Even in the Iraq War, an Iraqi insurgent stated that while during the day the insurgency could hold its own but at night, the U.S. had the advantage.

Survey the Terrain

This is a typical urban environment. The highway with the overpass is the dominating feature on this map. To the west is an industrial complex with office trailers and small buildings. The east side is residential with a spattering of garages and dead end alleys. The highway divides the map into two parts and is littered with destroyed vehicles. The highway is crossed with walk bridges and is lower than the sides of the map.

Flag Alpha: Back Yard

This flag is the closest to the Marine spawn at the bottom of the hill on the east side. The flag itself sits in a courtyard in between a three story building, two garages and a smaller road to the east. Whoever captures this flag has a light vehicle spawn here. This flag is out in the open but has a large capture radius, so it can be captured in hiding places to avoid snipers from the west side of the map. Access to the main road is by a set of stairs to the west.

Flag Bravo: Truck

This flag is in the middle of the map on the highway itself. A burning truck, a jack-knifed flat-bed trailer and spilled cargo are the only means of cover next to the flag. As its on the highway, this flag is lower than the sides of the map and it puts defenders in an bad position. This flag is routinely populated with vehicles coming from north and south, while infantry approach from the east and west. This flag produces a light vehicle.

Flag Charlie:Gas Station

This flag is the closest to the Russian spawn. on the west side. The flag capture radius puts attackers directly in harms way as the pumps and fuel tanks can be destroyed. This flag produces a light vehicle for the army that captures it. The flag sits next to the far-west road and is the only way that attacking vehicles can get to the flag. The infantry can assault the area by using the eastern steps when coming from Bravo. This flag gives access to both walk bridges within walking distance.

Take Inventory

The Marines deploy with a LAV-25 and an M1 Abrams MBT.
The Russians deploy with a BMP-2M and a T-90 MBT.
*Although I don't dictate what equipment each soldier takes to the battlefield, this is an exception. It would be wise for each squad and tankers to have access to Infrared Scopes and sights. The map is dark and potential ambushers have an advantage here. Equiping these scopes takes away that advantage

Strategize

Heed the words of Sun Tzu: Do not climb heights in order to fight. Just like Grand Bazaar, objective Bravo is in the middle of the map. Just like Grand Bazaar, its in a very undesirable position and holds no strategic value. Only a light vehicle spawns here and it sits in essentially a kill zone. An experienced player will tell you that attacking high ground is very foolish and leads to lots of death. So why subject yourself to that?

Once deployed, let the ground forces move forward and take the closest objective (Alpha or Charlie). Once that flag is secured, set up a defensive perimeter and face Bravo. The vehicles should back up the ground forces at Alpha/Charlie until you see Bravo being captured.

Once Bravo is captured, the ground forces should feint an attack on Bravo from the high ground, using available cover to shoot down. There's a high probability that the enemy will bring their vehicles to Bravo to defend against the attack. Don't worry, you hold the high ground and tanks are big targets. Not all of the ground forces should be in the front, some need to defend the road behind the flag in case of a flanking attack.

During the feint attack, the vehicles should move along the map-edge roads and capture the other sides spawn flag. More than likely, it will be poorly defended as the team will bring up any defenders to fight for Bravo. Once that flag is taken, the vehicle force should engage Bravo from their rear. Bravo is now surrounded on both sides in the lowest part of the map; a meat grinder.

Against a team of uncoordinated randoms, 85% of the time they will defend Bravo to the death, foolishly. Against an organized team, they may very well just spawn in their deployment zone, which still works in your favor since your vehicles are already in a forward position. Bring up Engineers and pin them in their spawn and watch the tickets bleed.

You can capture Bravo to speed up ticket bleed, but don't put up a valiant defense for it ; just enough for the enemy to think you are trying to hold it. Once enemy vehicles are brought up, abandon it and seek the high ground. If one of the high-ground flags falls, regroup and do it all over again. This time they may be prepared for it, so try a different way. Just keep in mind that the primary objectives are the perimeter flags, not the center. The only advantage that Bravo has is the overpass prevent mortars from hitting defenders.

Tips for this map

As said before, use IR sights. The dark plays tricks with your eyes.

Set up SOFLAMS so they look down the highway. This will spot enemies and vehicles that enter the highway, as well as laser-designate the tanks. Good places are on the grass along the highway to the north (Marines) or on the southernmost walkway over the highway (Russian)

Mine the east and west roads to protect against a blitzing fast vehicle. Mines are now easily spotted but on this map, the dark works in your favor.

Snipers in the Marine base can see right into the Bravo area. Russian snipers on the walkway near their spawn can see the same area.

Engineers and support soldiers with Bi-pods along the high perimeter overlooking the road can defend Bravo effectively if holding that flag is somehow needed (eg, end of match and need to bleed a few tickets more to win).

A good place to plant C4 is on the sparse cover around Bravo. The enemy WILL run to these places during an attack.

Seine Crossing-Conquest

If you ask any vet to name a particular nasty environment to wage a war in, a good number of them will say "urban." MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) are intense, it rattle the nerves, and overall is a horrible battle to fight. Battlefield 3's "Seine Crossing" is the most intense CQB map in the game and can leave the most skilled player helpless. Even tanks, the most dominant force on the modern battlefield, are not safe. Here is a plan to utilize this treacherous environment.

Survey the Terrain

Seine Crossing is urban environment in the heart of Paris. The city streets are big enough to allow tanks to travel, but small enough for 1 soldier with an LMG to lockdown a squad with little chance. Buildings with multiple, dark floors allow snipers and RPG's to strike from anywhere without warning.

Take Inventory

The Marines have 1 M1 Abrams MBT
The Russians have 1 T-90 MBT

Strategize

A history lesson: one of the most bloodiest battles in human history was the Battle of Stalingrad. Estimated casualties for both sides are around two million....in 6 months. The Germans called this style of fighting "Rattenkrieg" or the War of the Rats. They bitterly joked about capturing the kitchen but still fighting for the living room and bedroom. This map needs to be fought the same way.

Both the Marines and the Russians need to emphasize CQB weapons, explosives and sniper rifles. This map can not be won with conventional means, so don't rely on the tanks for assitance. They might not even make it out of the spawn. This map is a defensive player's paradise, so the best way to fight on this map is defensively. Make the enemy come to you, don't go to them. Force the enemy into the open and slaughter them.

Each Flag and the area around it is unique and has its own advantages and disadvantages. Instead of the usual way I write these, I will describe each objective with its advantages and disadvantages. Following them, I will give a brief overall plan for both teams to secure the win.

Alpha Flag: Narrow Passage.

This flag is on the western side of the map and is closest to the Marine spawn. Right next to the flag is a shop that overlooks the street, and the staircase/alley the goes right to Charlie Flag. On the staircase-side of the street is a garage that prone players can blast any enemy that moves to take the flag. At the flag facing east, there is a building that has a perfect vantage point aimed at the flag and into the adjacent shop. Snipers are prevalent here because the flag and the alternate route from/to Charlie, other than the staircase, can be covered with little movement. If this flag is captured, be sure to bring up the tank to help recapture it. The best approach to capture this flag is from the south, as this denies any sniper in the eastern building a clear shot while capturing. This flag is hard to defend as there are multiple entry points from all directions.

Bravo Flag: Market Avenue

This flag is on the eastern side of the map. It is a narrow dead end with an adjacent store and has a white van parked near it. The store can be used to stealthy capture the flag. The flag has an alley to the northwest that can be used to move quickly to Flag Delta: Monument Square. Expect assaults down this alley if the enemy controls Delta, but can be easily repelled by a LMG-equipped soldier due its closed-in nature and lack of adequate cover. The rubble behind the flag and the van can give defending Recons or Support soldiers a perfect ambush spot. This flag is ideal to claim as there are only 2 entry directions (Northwest and Southwest alleys).

Charlie Flag: Back Streets

This flag is is on the northwest side of the map and is closest to the Russian spawn. It is an open courtyard with multiple entry points from a narrow passage to the north, a set of steps to the southeast and the Alpha stairway to the west. The flag itself is in the middle of the courtyard but it can be captured along the perimeter. This flag is one that changes hands frequently. Its very important to monitor which control points are the enemies so the team can anticipate where an attack is likely to come. There is a building to the southeast, though not in the courtyard itself, gives snipers a perfect position to overwatch both Charlie and Delta. It can found by imagining a line south southeast from Charlie and southwest from Delta, the building is in the intersection of those lines. In addition, there is a red container and buildings to the east that can house potential ambushes.

Delta Flag: Monument Square

This flag is to the northeast. It is in a open plaza and is elevated from the street that can only be accessed from stairs to the east and west. There is rubble to the east, a three story building, and a store to the east that can provide excellent defensive positions to would-be attackers. Since this flag is near the Russian Spawn (accessed by an alley northeast of the flag), Market Ave ( and Back Streets © this objective can become very intense to control. Although tanks can not get near the flag, they can shoot from the streets and be very destructive. In addition, snipers regularly take positions in the buildings down the alley to the southwest and can be pin defenders in the plaza. Counter sniping tactics should be used to stand a chance of moving in the open in this area.

Marines

The Marines start in the round in a bad spot. The spawn is on the southern end of the map across two bridges. If the Russians make it through the city after capturing all the flags, the Marines have a very real possibility of being trapped in thier own deployment zone if the Russians hold the bridges. Therefore, the Marines must not under any circumstances allow the Russians to capture flags Alpha and Bravo and must maintain a force at all times across the bridges.

After Alpha and Bravo are captured, set up ambushes in the southern alley at Alpha, the buildings east of Alpha at the road bend, the alley at Bravo that faces Delta and the intersection southwest of Bravo. This provides maximum coverage of approaches to those flags and covers the road where the enemy tank has to travel to support the enemy attack. Again, defensive tactics will carry the day. Your team can try to take the other flags to start bleeding the enemy, but if the other team is entrenched this may backfire and the end result could be disastrous.

Russian Army

The Russians deploy in the bank. Ahead of them relatively close is Charlie and Delta. Capturing Delta gives your team a great defensive sight-line for the entire east side of the map. The elevated plaza funnels flag attackers to the east and west, a perfect kill zone. Snipers in the building behind the flag can pin down the enemy trying to approach from Alpha or Charlie directly.

Charlie is directly South from the spawn and will probably be reached by your team first, but be very careful; Marines with Sprint regularly sprint past Alpha and move directly to Charlie, setting up an ambush that effectively blocks your quick route to the flag. Once Charlie is yours, keep an eye on the stairway as this is a frequent route used if the enemy holds Alpha.

Keep in mind that it is possible to control all the flags and lock the enemy down in their spawn by sitting on the bridges. Although it is possible, this is very hard to do because one Marine still alive within the city can still spawn his teammates behind you and spoil those plans.

Rules to follow for both teams.

Don't sprint. It draws attention
Keep off the street if possible. You are then sniper bait.
Use buildings to your advantage.
Don't fire at every target you see, there may six more you can't see.
When sniping, don't sit at the windows where light can hit you. Set back a few feet and let the dark hide you.
Tanks are giant targets and are easily destroyed in MOUT. Steer clear to avoid getting blown up by an RPG.
Use spawn points in buildings to keep troops in the fight and in cover.
Stay with your squad, but don't bunch up.

Rush and Conquest Strategy- Noshahr Canals

Following my Grand Bazaar startegy, I'm going to follow the same set of steps to show how I came up with the plan so others can use the formula to develop their own. Furthermore, I like developing strategies for the game sometimes more than playing it. I view it as a mental exercise. Anyway, here we go.

1) Survey the Terrain

The premise of this map is the Marines make an amphibious assault from an aircraft carrier to a guarded port. The port itself is filled with cargo containers, cranes and warehouses that the defenders can use for ambushes. There is a set of train tracks behind the main area with a few rail cars on them, otherwise its fairly open ground along the tracks from west to east. The train station provides cover and is near Flag Charlie" on Conquest and the Bravo Mcom: Zone 2 on Rush.
Immediately behind the Rail Yard is high ground but otherwise open terrain, with some trees. Beyond the hill is open ground with a large warehouse along the west bank of the canal to the east. Behind that is an airfield with a warehouse beside the runway with a small army outpost in front of it.

2) Take Inventory

a) Conquest.
The Marines on the aircraft carrier have access to the LAV-25, the mobile spawn point AMTRAC, 2 Little Bird Scout Helicopters, and 2 RHIB fast boats during the initial spawn.
The Russians have 1 GAZ-3837 Vodnik (Humvee equivalent, AKA "Minivan"), 1 T-90 MBT and 1 Z-11W scout helocopter.

 Rush
Zone 1 (Initial spawn)
The Marines have the AMTRAC, 1 Little BIrd, 1 UH-1Y Venom transport helo and 3 RHIB fast boats.
The Russians have 1 Vodnik "Minivan", and 1Tungska Mobile AA tank.

Zones 2, 3, 4,
The Marines have a Humvee, AMTRAC, Little Bird, and a Venom transport helo.
The Russians have a Vodnik "minivan" and 1 Tungska Mobile AA tank

Zone 5
The Marines have everything as before with the addition of 1 RHIB
The Russians have the same as all other Zones

3)Strategize

Conquest

First thing to keep in mind, the Marines have a daunting task ahead of them. An amphibious assault is one of the most challenging operations a military is going to do. It requires extreme coordination with equipment, logistics and everyone understanding their role in the landing force. Despite the Marines having more equipment than the Russians, they will a harder time maintaining a presence on the mainland. The Russian side will make do with less equipment but also have the T-90 MBT at their disposal which will chew up the LAV 25 in any sort of engagement.

Marine Expeditionary Force

This is going to be a hard fight. The Marines first primary goal is to establish a foothold on the mainland. This is against conventional wisdom, but the Marines need to be cautious and taciturn to win on this map. Rushing forward without support will get the team torn apart quickly. At the carrier, the whole team needs to hit the beach at the same time to secure a beach head. The Little Birds should be in the air functioning as a scout; the Russians have a T-90 that needs to have it’s position known to the team at all times.

Once the Marines are on land, their position is tenuous at best. At anytime, the Russians can counter attack and push your team into the ocean, spoiling all your plans. Therefore, its wise to hold Bravo and Alpha then consolidate your defenses. Forget Charlie as it is too far forward to hold with any certainty. Only 2 flags are needed to start bleeding tickets.

Russian Army

While the Marines are rewarded for being cautious, the Russians will benefit by being extremely aggressive. Your main advantages are already spawning on land and the T-90. Right off the bat, your team should push forward all the way to the waters edge. Engineers should be taking shots at the inevitable AMTRAC slowly making its way ashore. The T-90 should be pounding away as well, with some engineers providing air cover from the Little Birds.

The Russians should try to hold all the flags. Alpha and Bravo are by the waters edge and will be the first flags the Marines will go for. Expect to lose Bravo but by forcing the enemy in the open longer to recapture Bravo works in your favor. Try to hold Alpha as long as reasonably possible. Charlie should be held to the last man. If the enemy captures Charlie, you have been cut off from the port and its all open ground between the spawn and the port. Don’t let this happen.

Overall, the simplest way for Russia to win is to keep the Marines off the land. Once all flags are held, set up sectors of fire to watch for the sneaky ones and blast the helos out of the air.

Rush (I will not cover defensive strategies other than note which Mcom is the hardest to attack.)

As in Conquest, the Marines primary goal is to establish a foothold on the mainland and the Russians need to keep them in the ocean. The Russians best chance for victory is in the first Zone, where the Marines deploy on the carrier. The Marines chance is to maximize their speed assets to cross the land very quickly to keep the Russians off balance.

Zone 1 The Port

The Alpha Mcom is in the dark warehouse that overlooks Bravo flag on Conquest. The Bravo Mcom is in a steel shed south east of Alpha.

Alpha is the hard one to take in this zone. Defenders can camp pretty well in the dark corners of this warehouse. The roof on this building can be destroyed with mortars to let in light to rob the Russians of this advantage. With Alpha destroyed, the warehouse can be used as a staging area for the Marines to launch attacks on Bravo.

Zone 2 The Rail Yard

The Alpha Mcom is between a concrete building to the west and a green container to the east. Bravo Mcom is in a cargo container in front of the train station.

Bravo is the hard one in this zone. Snipers and MG’s can fire down the sides of the open conex to drop any potential soldiers arming the bomb. The Marines best option is to flank the defenders from the east by the bridge, catching the campers from behind. Alpha is the easiest and closest Mcom to attack. It will probably be armed by the randoms. This is fine since this is a frontal assault and will keep the defenders in place while the flanking forces move around.

Zone 3 “Cemetery Ridge”

Alpha is on the crest of the hill in the gas station. Bravo is on the eastern slope in a small dark building.

Alpha could be a problem as the defenders can flood the hill with campers, forcing the Marines to fight an uphill battle. In addition, the approach has little cover between Alpha and the spawn. Smoke, either by mortars or M320 will be worth their weight in gold here. Smoke the ridge , then either climb the hill or drop from helo’s to gain the initiative. Bravo is in a dark building with limited access, perfect for ambushes. However, they best option is C4 the walls to let in light and deny them this tactical advantage.

Zone 4 The Runway Approach

Alpha is in a small trailer building. Bravo is to the north in a large warehouse.

Alpha is vulnerable from the beginning even though it can be surrounded by defenders. The defenders love to booby trap the trailer so keep an eye out. Bravo is in a large warehouse that can be difficult to attack. However, the best option is to drive the AMTRAC inside, disembark to arm the bomb then back the AMTRAC up and cover the Mcom with the Machine gun.

Zone 5 The Airfield

Alpha is a small concrete building within the small outpost. Bravo is in a trailer flanked by a road and the canal.

Alpha is the hard Mcom to arm. It sits in the outpost in front of the large warehouse where the AA tank is. This is the next best place where the Russians can win after the port. The outpost is surrounded by walls and has two gates inside. Once inside, the defenders can make short work of any one attempting to arm Alpha. Smoke, and helicopter air assaults are the best option. The AMTRAC can get tore up pretty badly by the Mobile AA tank. If the AMTRAC is to be used, this AA tak needs to be destroyed, followed up by arming the Mcom quickly.

Bravo is outside the outpost and favors the Marines. The attackers get a RHIB for this zone and can be used to quickly move down the canal and get behind Bravo before the defenders knows what happening.

The last set should be take Alpha first, then Bravo. The Marines are going to need all the tickets to have a chance of knocking out Alpha.

Conquest Strategy-Grand Bazaar

Grand Bazaar is an urban environment supplemented with vehicles. THe map is largely based on one city block and the building fronts along the perimeter streets. The teams spawn on opposite corners of the map. Each spawn has one flag closest to their spawn (flags "A" and "C") and a central one within an alleyway (Flag "B"). Both teams start with one light vehicle and an IFV.

A strategy planning session has multiple different ways of devising a plan, but there is always a few things everyone should do before that happens:

1) Survey the Terrain.
Before you charge forward like an idiot, take a look at the battleground first. Find the advantages, then the disadvantages. In Grand Bazaar, its an urban environment full of ambush possibilities. The streets are open for vehicles, but vehicle support is minimal at best in the interior. This map is best fought with the majority of infantry able to function by themselves.

2) Take inventory.
That means, what assets does your team have and what vehicles are available? On this map, both teams have fast vehicles and IFV's. Fast vehicles are great for rapid transport for troops, scouting and providing fire support in the way of mounted MG's. IFV's can also transport troops more safely, but at a loss for speed. Their shining asset is the heavy guns and are more adept at providing fire support for the team. Personal equipment is fielders choice.

3) Strategize.
Using the layout and equipment available, as well as the number of troops, devise a plan to maximize your advantages and minimize the disadvantages.

Final Strategy

Grand Bazaar has 3 flags and bleeding starts with just 2 flags taken. The Alpha and Charlie flags are near each spawn point and are easily taken by both teams. The real pain is Bravo since it is in a small alley with a limited axis of approach. Whichever team controls this flag can easily defend it with one soldier prone on the ground firing down the alley. SInce it is in the middle of the map, novice players naturally think that objective is vital. It is not and here a few reasons why:

1) Its position isn't strategically vital. It spawns no vehicles, watches over nothing except the alley itself and has so many entrances into it that to properly defend against flanking forces means stretching the teams lines really thin to prevent enemy penetration.

2) Vehicles can't support the soldiers in the middle at all except down the alley. Smart opponents will attack from the flanks, effectively neutralizing the vehicles and its occupants. It would be unwise to foolishly think that your opponents are dumb enough to charge down the alley. Military Maxim: Never underestimate your opponent.

3) To capture this Flag means getting bloody and losing LOTS of tickets, valuable tickets. Those tickets are better spent attacking and defending the spawn area flags, not hopelessly attacking a meaningless objective.

So what do you do? The following is an overall team strategy and needs to be coordinated as such. Inform the team of the plan and hope they swallow their ego enough to follow it.

Before spawning, divide the team into two separate forces: one ground force and one vehicle force.Once the game starts, the ground forces objective is to grab and hold the spawn area's flag. Spread the soldiers out to cover the alley entrance, the street, and the side entrances, but close enough to support one another in case the situation goes sideways. Once the flag has been taken, set up a defensive perimeter and hold that objective to the last man.

The vehicle force has a different objective. Split this force into two elements: one in the fast vehicle and one in the IFV. The fast vehicle is the scouting force and should drive cautiously around the perimeter, keeping an eye out for flanking enemy soldiers. The IFV should travel behind the scout back far enough to not be seen first, but close enough to assist the light armored vehicle in case of trouble. The main objective is the enemies spawn flag. Timing is everything, so the vehicles should wait for the enemy to capture the Bravo flag first before attempting to capture the enemy spawn flag.

Once the enemy has captured Bravo, execute the attack. The ground force should feint an attack on the Bravo flag in mass. This will trick the enemy into thinking you team is going for capture, and will bring up reinforcements, emptying thier spawn flag. At the same time the vehicles, who should have been staged just around the corner from the enemy spawn flag out of sight, should move forward and capture the flag in mass as well.

With both flags captured, the enemy trapped in the alleyway defending a worthless Bravo flag and your teams vehicles parked in their spawn flag, the enemy has been effectively split in two. With the vehicles just around the corner from the enemy vehicles spawn, they should be easy prey when they come around the corner. Do not engage the enemy in the urban interior: that is their tactical advantage now and never fight on the enemies terms. Once both flags are held, the operation goes from offensive to defensive so hold the line. Leave Bravo alone and quarantine that flag.

The main goal is to capture the perimeter flags and ignore the Bravo flag. Let the enemy bleed the tickets defending a worthless objective. You will lose the flags over the course of the round, but the priority is Alpha and Charlie. Keep the vehicles alive and your team will collect a win sooner or later.

Battlefield 3 Mortar Strike Tips

Battlefield 3 Mortar Strike Tutorial | Gameplay Multiplayer

SUBSCRIBE:
http://www.youtube.c...=twthereddragon

TWITTER:
http://twitter.com/#.../twthereddragon

SUBSCRIBE to my BATTLEFIELD 3 Show! http://www.youtube.c...w?p=Wi4qDtxiFtA

I have had several users request a Battlefield 3 Tutorial for the M224 Mortar Strike. The Mortar is available to the Support Class after 40,000 points. I show you in-depth tips & Tricks for using the Mortar strike and demonstrate ranges and how to use Smoke and high explosive rounds.. Enjoy and Subscribe for many more future BF3 Tips, Tutorials, and Gameplay Commentaries.
Battlefield 3 Forums: http://www.battlestr...mmunity-forums/

_____________________________________________________________

Following Tips from CavalryScout81
Allow me to be very upfront: Coordination is vital with using the mortar. I wont use it unless I have at least a 4-man party because if I decide to be the designated Mortarman for that round, its going to take me out of the fight: I'll be in the back lobbing shells.

The mortar fires in a high parabolic arc. It is somewhat accurate and the few videos I have seen will place the round within 25 meters. The operator aims the weapon using a zoomed view of the mini-map. Once the weapon is deployed, the operator can only see whats directly in front of him, leaving him very vulnerable to sneak attacks. It has the capability of launching smoke rounds over long distances. The smoke plume is as big as one launched from the M320 but since the Mortar has unlimited ammo, a blanket of smoke can be laid down. HE and Smoke rounds can be switched freely by pressing left or right on D-pad once in control of weapon. There is no set time between firing the weapon and it landing, it depends on the distance between you and the target.

Mortars are best employed on groups of targets, preferably within confined environments. Grand Bazaar's Alleyway is a great place to lob them due to the enemy's inability to easily escape the blast radius.Another good use is to hit Mcom areas, Conquest flags and other suitable areas where players want or need to congregate at. Also, mortars are great for dislodging enemy snipers from their perches; it will make them think twice before exposing their position by firing.

The easy way for the Mortar team to know where to lob shells is for your team to spot them. Place it on a red dot and start firing. However, things aren't always so easy. Sometimes your team needs fire support NOW and there are no spotted targets. You need to provide fire support without "spots" to be a good mortarman. Lack of map knowledge is no excuse. So here is "Krazi-Daves Target Reference Mortar Method for BattleStrats."

Target Reference uses known points to help the mortarman fire the shells where your team needs them. Lets use the Map everyone now hates, Operation Metro. As the attacker, your team rushes forward and gets pinned by a MG nest near Mcom Bravo. The team can't spot them so they need to relay its location quickly to the Mortarman. First, get the Mortar Team's attention by saying "Fire Mission." Then state the known position, followed by easily understandable fine-tuned directions. Finally, state what needs mortared and the round needed. The above example would spoken like this:

Fire Mission. Target Reference "Bravo", left 10 yards on the rocks. MG nest, High Explosive.

Once directions are given, the mortar team should inform the forward team that a round is inbound by stating "Shot."The mortar team should leave the crosshairs on the last place shot. This way if there's a miss, the spotters can make corrections based off the last shot quickly. Example:

Fire Mission. Target Reference "Gazebo", in front 5 yards along the wall. 2 soldiers. HE
Shot.
Miss. Adjust 10 yards right. Fire for Effect.
Shot.
Hit. Same target. Smoke
Shot....

And so on. When relaying directions (left, right, in front, behind), use the Point of View of the Attackers. By now, everyone should have an idea which directions the objectives are.

Tips for the Mortar

1) Track your teammates with the crosshair once deployed. It will be a shorter reaction time once they need indirect fire.

2) Never underestimate Smoke. No points are awarded but the team will have an easier time traversing the region.

3) Set aside your ego and don't start firing shells indiscriminately for kills. Once fired, your location shows up on the minimap for all to see. Your shots are meant to panic the enemy to assist the team. A surprise attack will always rattle the enemy team.

4) If your team asks for a fire mission, give it to them! They would only ask for a mission if they needed it.

5) Buildings provide cover from mortars, but make great reference points. Plus, rooftops can be cleared with mortars, removing campers off the real estate.

Battlefield 3 Jets Tutorial

Battlefield 3 Jets Tutorial with Multiplayer Gameplay Commentary

Follow this in-depth Battlefield 3 Jets guide to learn tips and tricks to rule the skies in no time.

Top BF3 Tips for How to Fly Jets:

1) Settings: I personally changed my settings to the "Alternate" button layout for the Xbox. Check your own setup for any platform you are playing on and make sure you feel comfortable with the configuration.

2) If it is your first time flying, get in the air and try to go to an area of the map that is vacant. Get high and feel out the plane and how it maneuvers. If you go straight into a dogfight without knowing how your Jet functions, more than likely you are going to die.

3) Make a habit of switching between first person and third person views. It is easier to identify enemy aircraft in 3rd person, but once you get behind the enemy you need to switch to first person in order to take them out effectively.

4) If an enemy locks on to your aircraft, fly straight up and try to get as high as possible. Rockets from the ground are limited by distance, so try to put as much distance between you and the ground as possible.

5) Try to sneak up behind the enemy without them knowing. Circle around the edges - fly high and be on the lookout for enemy aircraft. Wait until they are in a position where you can swoop down and sneak up behind them.

6) All jets are about the same speed, so you cannot outrun a jet, but you can out maneuver one once you have the skills.

7) Use the "Free Look" to look around the cockpit, especially if you are playing Hardcore mode. On the Xbox it is DOWN on the directional pad. Hold it down while using your right stick to look around. Works on PC and PlayStation 3 BF3 as well.

8) If you are wounded and don't have the extinguisher or maintenance specializations, it is better to try to fly over the playing field and just bail out instead of dying with the jet. It IS possible to land them and repair manually, but it is very difficult and should only be executed once you feel comfortable enough.

9) Wait until you are COMPLETELY Locked onto before deploying your flares. A Complete Lock-on can be heard and is the long buzzing sound you hear. It is best to wait a couple of seconds before deploying to give you the optimal chance of surviving and deflecting the incoming anti-air missiles.

10) Starting out in a plane is difficult and takes lots of practice. New players only have access to the machine gun, but as you play and use the Jet - you will witness yourself becoming more powerful with each and every attachment. Before long you will be ruling the skies in Battlefield 3 Multiplayer.

Evade Rockets Without Flares ~ By Brint

Just a little trick i figured out that's gotten me out of being shot down. If you hear that you're being locked onto and you don't have flares or chaff to distract the rocket then that's when this trick comes in handy.

What you must do is wait until you hear the lock-on sound that's the frantic high-pitched beeping after the solid tone. The ones that means it's gonna hit you. When it's beeping at you like it's going to hit, roll your plane over so that the top is facing down and to the left, but not completely upside down. Once you have it in that position, pull the left trigger to dump speed and turn as hard as you can in the direction that the rocket is coming from. If done correctly, you will evade the rocket and it will explode harmlessly somewhere behind you.

Important things to note:

This does not work 100% of the time. It works about 1 in 3 times for me. Better than nothing though.

Timing is everything. Unfortunately, most of the time you don't know where the rocket was fired from so it is difficult to time.

This works better for rockets fired from the ground than ones fired from other planes.

I hope this tip help and keeps people in the air for longer.

Search and Destroy Tips

Search and Destroy(S&D) is a game that requires a lot of strategy and good reflexes. One of the things that will help you to be better at S&D it the way you setup your class. For you main gun I would recommend an Assault Rifle because they have a good mix of range, rate of fire, mobility, and also a good clip size. You can also use a Sub-machinegun but their range is not as good and most of them have smaller clips. Machine guns are good to if you don't mind giving your position away every time you shoot because you can't put a silencer on them. I highly recommend putting a silence on you weapon because it keeps you hidden so people won't know where you are. On your secondary weapon, however, I would keep you the silencer off because you may want lure the last person to come to your position if you can't find them. All grenades and secondary grenades work well. Willy Pete's (smoke grenades) are good for hiding you will you plant the bomb and the rest are good for distracting the enemy by slowing them down or blinding them. For equipment I highly recommend a claymore because they can still kill people after you die but you can use the motion sensor or a camera to see where the enemy is.
Now on to Perks. The best perk in my opinion for Perk 1 is Ghost because it will keep you hidden from the spy planes. Perk 2 I would recommend having on Steady Aim or Sleight of Hand Pro (if you don’t have pro I would not recommend using it). Steady Aim reduces the spray of the weapon and Pro makes you aim down the sights faster after sprinting. Sleight of Hand Pro makes it you aim down the sight two times faster. Aiming down the sights makes it easier to hit people at longer ranges. This helps with the reflex part I talked about. Perk 3 I would have on Tactical Mask so you don’t have to worry about the secondary grenades. This perk is good for being on the defense or the side without the bomb. For the offensive side or the side with the bomb I would use Hacker because of all the pesky claymores that people put down. This helps so you can see the enemy’s equipment.
Also recommend low kill streaks nothing higher than a 6 kill steak. The other thing to help you in S&D is how you move around in the game. Usually you want to stay in a crouched position as you move from one position to another. The only time I would stand up is if I going to cross a street or an open area then I usually sprint across to I have a less chance of getting shoot. When shooting an enemy I would recommend shooting in burst unless they are running you can hold the trigger down. It is also good to be quick on the trigger which is the reflex part of the game and don’t forget to defuse the bomb if it is planted or plant it to attract the other team. That is all the strategy I have to offer.
